One product can have several sale units (e.g. "piece" / "box" = 100 pieces), each with its own price and barcode. At checkout pick the unit on the same screen or scan the box barcode; stock is deducted in base units automatically (selling 1 box deducts 100 pieces), voids and returns restore the right quantity, and reports count in one unit. Purchase units on the receiving side convert to base units as well
